Located just outside of Munich, the Joby Aviation team has been steadily working toward our goal of providing safe, affordable, fully electric air transportation that is accessible to everyone. Imagine an air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly and quickly carries you over the congestion below, giving you back that time you’d otherwise spend sitting in traffic. Technology has advanced to the point where designing and operating an all-electric aircraft is completely viable. Our team has been discreetly designing and flight testing this vehicle and is looking for talented individuals to see it through certification and high rate production.


The Human Resources Manager will support our rapidly growing office in Germany.  This individual will be responsible for managing all aspects of the office operations and instrumental in helping build the company culture.  We’re looking for an organized and energetic person who excels at tackling new challenges on a daily basis.  This will initially be a part-time, 20 hours a week position, with the possibility of increasing to full-time over the next year. 


  • Create, oversee, and implement HR policies
  • Ensure compliance with local labor laws
  • Provide strategic advice on sensitive staff matters, discipline, and dispute resolution
  • Ensure good morale in the office
  • Oversee the onboarding and departure processes
  • Benefits administration
  • Liaise with teams in the USA about company policies, operational issues, and audits
  • Refine and manage employee evaluation policies and procedures
  • Manage payroll and accounts payable


  • Completed vocational traineeship as office clerk (kaufmännische Ausbildung) or Bachelors degree in relevant industry
  • 10+ years of experience in a similar role; startup experience a plus
  • Deep understanding of HR practices, German labor laws, and legal work authorization in Germany
  • Excellent English and German language skills (written and oral) - C1 or higher
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
  • A talent for creative thinking and engaging with employees, candidates, and office guests
  • Self-starter, proactive, detail, and deadline oriented
  • Ability to maintain a high work ethic and confidentiality


  • Manufacturing or engineering office administration experience
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Proficiency in Sharepoint
  • Accounting experience
