Technology has advanced to the point where designing and operating an all-electric aircraft is completely viable. Our team has been discreetly designing and flight testing this vehicle and is looking for talented individuals to see it through certification and high rate production.


The Metallurgical Technician will work with the engineering team to test the quality of incoming material and develop applications of metal fabrications. The technician in this position will be involved with all aspects of metallic material analysis and supporting development through test data. The technician should be meticulous and organized, as this role will also entail processing a high volume of metallurgical samples weekly.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate the metallurgical effects of metallic forming processes, heat treatment processes, metallic joining techniques and anti-corrosion treatments using metallurgical analysis. 
  • Perform routine sample preparation, metallurgical evaluation and data entry/analysis following proper guidelines.
  • Perform multiple tasks concurrently including lab work and data analysis
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organized lab environment for constant sample throughput 
  • Assist in maintaining lab equipment including routine and non-routine maintenance; troubleshoot  
  • Maintain all metallographic records to support metallurgical evaluation results 
  • Perform additional functions related to metallurgical and mechanical testing labs



  • Two-year technical degree or B.S. in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering or a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Familiarity with metallographic sample preparation and testing capabilities: sectioning, mounting, grinding, polishing, etching, etc.
  • Familiarity with metallurgical analysis and microstructure
  • Experience with microscopy techniques: light microscopy preferred 
  • Strong communication, coordination skills and attention to detail 
  • Ability to perform essential functions without supervision 
  • Experience with Excel, Matlab, Python, or other raw data processing software.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, crouch around machines, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly



  • 2+ years of working experience in a metallurgy lab or mechanical test lab environment
  • Experience with microscopy techniques and image analysis
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements for chemicals, gases, metals, tools and equipment 
  • Experience with fabrication techniques such as casting, additive manufacturing, welding
  • Experience with AS9100/ISO9001 certification 
  • Familiarity with mechanical testing of metallic materials
