Overview

Joby Aviation is seeking a passionate and driven Flight Test Data Analyst to join our flight physics team. This role requires a wide range of knowledge and skills that include test data analysis, active participation in flight test activities, correlation and updating of analytical models to test data,
development of in-house tools and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Analysis of flight test and ground test data related to loads and
    dynamics
  • Participation in flight test activities as Ground Control Station operator
  • Review and approval of test plans
  • Development of tools and methods to process loads and dynamics test
    data
  • Correlation and updating of analytical models used for loads and
    dynamics calculations to experimental data
  • Development of fatigue spectra
  • Writing of internal documents and certification reports

Required

  • B.S., M.S. or PhD in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or
    related field
  • 3+ years of industry experience in aircraft development programs
  • Previous experience in loads and dynamics, or alternatively in flight science disciplines
  • Excellent computer skills – Microsoft Office, Matlab, as well as other data analysis software
  • Must be able to work both independently and on a team and be able to work extended hours and travel as required

Desired

  • Previous experience on FAA aircraft certification programs, preferably Part 23
  • 5+ years of industry experience in aircraft development programs
  • Experience with loads measurement flight test, ground calibration, and flutter flight test
  • Understanding of flight dynamics, 6DOF maneuver simulation tools,
    and system identification
