Overview

Joby Aviation is seeking a highly organized, passionate Senior Software Engineer, Plant Floor to help our team. As part of the Manufacturing IT team, you will design, implement and deploy software and hardware solutions to automate the data collection, movement and analysis across our company.

Work includes setting up manufacturing data collection, creating data aggregation and analysis tools as well as operational awareness and visualization tools. Using your knowledge of human-machine interfaces, you will work with our engineering, manufacturing, quality, IT, and business systems teams to oversee the requirements gathering, discovery, and roll out of scalable solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Establish data collection of industrial assets on the manufacturing floor
  • Build and Maintain software tools to allow other systems and users to visualize and analyze process data
  • Create operational awareness through elegant and ergonomic HMIs and SCADA tools
  • Implement interfaces and middleware to allow seamless integration across company systems
  • Create custom solutions for communicating with specialized equipment and integrating data into various databases and SCADA/MES/ERP systems
  • Maintain and update custom application configuration and code using Github

Required

  • B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, or Software Engineering or a relevant discipline and 5+ years of work experience in relevant industry
  • Strong experience with SCADA systems or other relevant experience and industrial data acquisition
  • Demonstratable experience with Inductive Automation’s Ignition software
  • Strong software programming knowledge (Python preferred)
  • MES and relational databases exposure
  • Familiarity with commonly used industrial communication protocols
  • Working Knowledge of REST APIs and GraphQL
  • Working knowledge of relational databases (PSQL, TimescaleDB, MySQL, MSSQL)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  •  Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work on many projects spanning across multiple teams

  • Front-end web development knowledge
  • Experience with Docker/Kubernetes deployment
  • Experience mapping data elements between applications
  • Experience with FAA requirements and AS9100
  • Advanced knowledge and use of Microsoft Office products
  • Code Management, Testing and Documentation tools experience

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $128,700 - $171,500/annually. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
