Overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our team as a Hand Lay up Senior Technician. In this role, you will play a crucial role in performing composite layup operations to manufacture high-quality composite parts. The ideal candidate should possess advanced abilities and demonstrated expertise in ply placement, ply orientation, and material consolidation techniques. High proficiency in performing vacuum bagging, debulking, and curing operations are also required for this role. 

As a Hand Lay up  Senior Technician, you will not only be responsible for executing complex part builds with precision but will also have the opportunity to train and mentor other technicians. Your extensive knowledge and experience in composite layup operations will be invaluable in guiding and supporting the professional development of your colleagues.

Responsibilities

  •  Perform composite layup operations with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, ensuring the highest quality standards are met. 
  •  Utilize your expertise in ply placement, ply orientation, and material consolidation to achieve the desired mechanical properties and part dimensions. 
  •  Execute vacuum bagging, debulking, and curing operations with proficiency, ensuring proper consolidation, and curing of composite parts. 
  • Train and mentor other technicians, sharing your knowledge and skills to help them enhance their composite layup abilities. 
  • Lead complex part builds, taking charge of planning, organizing, and coordinating the layup process to ensure successful outcomes. 
  • Collaborate with engineering and design teams to interpret specifications and engineering drawings, ensuring adherence to the required standards. 
  • Conduct quality inspections and perform necessary tests to verify compliance with specifications and identify any defects or irregularities.

Required

  • High School diploma or GED Equivalent.
  • 4+ years of hand lamination experience. 
  • Virtek or equivalent laser ply location system experience  
  • Reliable, punctual and have dependable transportation. 
  • Ability to follow safe work practices. 
  • Strong attention to detail and precision. 
  • Manual dexterity and able to use hand tools. 
  • Good hand-eye coordination. 
  • Effectively work as part of a team. 
  • Strong commitment to quality standards and procedures. 
  • Knowledge of hand tools and inspection equipment. 
  • Able to lift assemblies weighing up to 50 lbs. 
  • Maintain work area in a neat, orderly, and organized manner. 
  • Have no known allergies to epoxies or other composites materials. 

Able to become certified to wear a respirator 

Desired

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $32 - $50 hour. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
