Since 2009, our team has worked steadily to make this dream a reality. We’ve designed and tested many generations of prototype aircraft capable of serving in a network of electric air taxis. We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onwards toward certifying the Joby aircraft with the Federal Aviation Administration, scaling our manufacturing, and preparing to launch commercial service in 2025.

The primary focus of this role will be to build up and maintain our code generation framework as well as our massive JSON database which contains the input to our code generators. Joby relies heavily on code generation within our software department which works by parsing JSON and then running it though our code generation tool which consists of C++, Docker and CMake to generate C++, RST Documentation and other output.

• Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of our code generation framework and aircraft database
• Will work closely with all the software teams which rely on this tool to support their code generation requirements

• University degree in computer science or computer engineering and 5+ years industry experience. An advanced degree and 3+ years industry experience will also be considered.
• Expert in Python
• Prior experience working with databases
• Experience working with build systems such as CMake
• 1+ year(s) experience of C++
• Prior experience with Docker

• Sphinx, Restructured Text and/or some other self-documenting code constructs
• Python Poetry or other Python package managers is a plus
• Familiarity with Linux OS and command line tools
• Previous experience with code generation methods and techniques
• Python Jinja2 templating engine

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $136,200-$210,200/yr. The compensation package offered will be determined by location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
