Overview

Working as a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for developing strategic business plans for new international production operations, from concept to execution. Drive feasibility studies, business proposals, cost models, and project schedules with broad ownership of multiple aspects of  Joby Aviation’s global manufacturing footprint. Work closely with team leaders and international entities to build, evaluate and optimize entire factory build outs in international locations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, initiation, execution, monitoring, and closure phases of multiple international projects/processes
  • Drive international operations and production strategies for assigned manufacturing lines and manage the risks affecting project profit, costs, schedules and client relations
  • Organize, implement and maintain scheduling management systems supporting identified projects and their plans for the manufacturing assembly lines
  • Interact with internal and external customers and project staff to schedule work and coordinate assignments
  • Interact with project team and task managers to define scope of work to develop and update detailed schedules, cost information and identification of variances from original plan
  • Evaluate project schedule progress and performance and identify developing problem areas
  • Analyze critical path and constraints to determine effect of changes to schedule and recommend work-around
  • Support project management team to maintain timely and effective change management processes, procedures and systems
  • Assist project team to develop and maintain periodic status reports to keep management informed on project progress
  • Create and achieve consensus on top 10 issue list and mitigation actions, owners and timing.  Visualize status of these actions at periodic status reports.
  • Conduct analysis to determine alternative courses of action or recovery on slipped schedules

Required

  • 10+ years experience working in project management within international manufacturing operations
  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field
  • 5+ years experience in leading complex, multi-year product launch programs globally
  • Proven track record as Project Manager or Operations Manager within global manufacturing setting
  • Proven track record overseeing different program phases, such as development to transition to production readiness
  • Ability to effectively apply business, financial, and commercial knowledge to successfully represent Joby’s best interest with external customers
  • Highly skilled at tactical project planning, risk management, project execution, and communication with all levels of the organization
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Well developed interpersonal skills and strong team player
  • Detail oriented independent worker
  • General working knowledge of complex manufacturing
  • Strong experience with project management tools
  • Ability to travel internationally 50% of the time

Desired

  • Aerospace experience a plus
  • Experience setting up manufacturing greenfield projects or major facility modifications for complex manufacturing lines
  • Expert level user of MS Project or Smartsheets including creation of macros
  • General working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software

 

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is  $162,500 - $216,700/year. The compensation package offered will be determined by location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
