Overview

As a Modeling and Simulation engineer, you will play an integral role in supporting the Flight Physics modeling, analysis, and design efforts at Joby. Responsibilities include developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining models for use in analysis and pilot-in-the-loop simulation testing. You will develop and participate in data analysis and reduction of flight test or lab test data to support simulator validation efforts. You will work with stakeholders to improve internal documentation and produce validation documents.

Responsibilities

  • Act as initial point of contact for stakeholders on all model related issues
  • Work closely with Joby’s Software Verification Operations and Test Automation teams to design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve model related integration tests in the Integrated Vehicle Simulator.
  • Reduce and Analyze data from simulation and test setups and build custom tool to aid model validation

Required

  • 5+ years of experience of industry experience with relevant technologies
  • Familiarity with modeling electro-mechanical systems
  • Experience with Simulink, MATLAB, and Python
  • Experience with version control systems (Git)
  • Excellent problem solving, software debugging, and communication skills
  • Ability to work in groups and individually

Desired

  • M.Sc. in computer or mechanical or aerospace engineering, or a relevant discipline
  • Understanding of Aircraft Flight Dynamics, Stability and Controls principles
  • Experience with object oriented programming, C++ in particular.
  • Experience with actuators and active load systems

 

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $132,200 - $176,300/yr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
