As a Flight Control Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for controller design, focusing on achieving desirable handling qualities, disturbance rejection, aerodynamic performance, and mitigating vibration and structural load considerations.
You will build control laws related to effector allocation, failure handling and fault detection, and participate in system level testing, software debugging, and telemetry review. You will develop analysis tools for quantifying stability margins, handling qualities, and control authority in all phases of flight.
You will collaborate with the Loads team, the Performance team, the Rotor Dynamics team, the Powertrain team, and the System Safety team on multi-disciplinary projects. You will also work closely with test pilots to define desirable handling and flying characteristics, participate in mission planning, scenario simulations, and provide in-person support during flight test activities.
This position must meet US export control compliance requirements, therefore a candidate must qualify as a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15. “US Person” includes US Citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, or asylees.
Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $113,900 - $151,900/yr. The compensation package offered will be determined by location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
