Working as a Structures Test Engineer at Joby, you will support the Airframe & Actuator Testing Team as they test structural and mechanical hardware made by Joby. As part of this team, you will perform testing of critical components for electric VTOL aircraft. Working in our structure test facilities under the supervision of senior test staff, the test engineer will design and assemble test setups for composite and metallic aircraft structures, including fixturing and data collection. The data collected during these tests will inform the company’s hardware design efforts and pave the way to safe, production-ready airframes.
Execute and create tests to validate the characteristics of aircraft hardware by working closely with the hardware design, build and test teams. Write test plans, test procedures, design instrumentation, test stand/fixture designs, data acquisition architectures, and any other necessary tools to allow for thorough, efficient and repeatable testing. Analyze data collected during tests to generate reports that provide empirical feedback to develop, validate and verify our hardware.
