Joby Overview

Located in Northern California, the team at Joby Aviation is driven by our goal of creating an affordable, all-electric air transportation system. Imagine a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly carries you and your fellow passengers over the congested city streets below, enabling you to spend more time with the people and places that matter most. Since 2009, our team has worked steadily to make this dream a reality. We’ve designed and tested many generations of prototype aircraft capable of serving in a network of electric air taxis. We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onwards toward certifying the Joby aircraft with the Federal Aviation Administration, scaling our manufacturing, and preparing to launch commercial service in 2025.

Overview

The Testing Team is seeking an intern to assist in performing structural, environmental, and functional testing of flight-critical components and systems for our eVTOL aircraft. This person will work closely with other engineers on the team to provide hands-on support with various testing projects. We expect our interns to take on a lot of ownership but will provide support and guidance to allow them to grow and be successful in a fast-paced, engineering-focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Test Engineers in test preparation, execution, and reporting on various sub-system test venues
  • Work with Test Engineers in designing, assembling and preparing test rigs for execution
  • Design and analyze mechanical test and support equipment under the supervision of a team peer using CAD based tools (if relevant to education background)
  • Design and analyze electrical/electronic test and support equipment under the supervision of a team peer using computer-based tools such as Altium (if relevant to education background)
  • Generate engineering drawings and support equipment fabrication.
  • Manage small projects from conception to completion
