Overview

The Physical Security Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing security operations across all of Joby’s California sites, with primary office location in Marina, CA. This role requires sound judgment, initiative, and the ability to independently manage a range of site-specific and general security responsibilities. The successful candidate will assess risks, respond to incidents, support cross-functional coordination, and help develop and enhance physical security culture, procedures and infrastructure. This role may have one or more direct reports and will be responsible for supervising, mentoring, and evaluating assigned staff.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted resource for employee security concerns, fostering a culture of safety and accountability.

  • Support internal security awareness initiatives through training, briefings, and resource sharing.

  • Align site-level security practices with organizational standards and collaborate with HR, IT, and Facilities on security matters.

  • Respond to security incidents, alarms, and alerts with appropriate escalation, documentation, and reporting.

  • Conduct investigations and produce clear, actionable incident reports.

  • Address unauthorized access attempts professionally.

  • Support employee offboarding by recovering access credentials and IT assets.

  • Recommend updates to standard operating procedures and assist with training.

  • Participate in virtual meetings and documentation processes.

Required

  • 6-8 years of experience in security, law enforcement, or military service. 
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions independently and prioritize effectively. 
  • Physically able to walk patrols across uneven or varied terrain. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. 
  • Proficient with basic computer tools: video conferencing, cloud documents, and security systems.

Desired

  • Experience in private-sector security for aviation, critical infrastructure, or technology environments. 
  • Familiarity with California-specific safety regulations and emergency response procedures. 
  • Professional certifications such as PSP, CPP (ASIS) or Guard Card (BSIS). 
  • Strong situational awareness and conflict de-escalation skills.

 

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $107,200 - $143,000/yr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
