Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to support and advance Joby Aviation’s workplace safety and compliance programs. This role plays a vital part in promoting a culture of safety and environmental responsibility through hands-on support, regulatory compliance, training development, and hazard mitigation. The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of federal and state regulations—including OSHA, NFPA, EPA, DOT, and DTSC—and a passion for fostering a safe, healthful, and environmentally sound work environment across all Joby facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Understands OSHA, NFPA, EPA, DOT, DTSC. rules and regulations for employees
  • Data entry
  • Assist in implementation of environment, health, safety and industrial/occupational hygiene compliance programs, promoting state-of-the-art safe and healthful work practices for the protection of personnel, physical assets, and production operations
  • Recognize hazards and assist team members in mitigating hazards
  • Provides support and regulatory compliance at manufacturing and related support personnel at Joby Aviation facilities
  • Stocks First Aid Kits
  • Removes hazardous waste from the facility
  • Installs signs and warning labels to ensure safety communication
  • Supports the hazardous waste activities at the facility
  • Actively participates in the development, implementation and maintenance of internal EHS procedures
  • Conducts EHS audits of work areas for the purpose of discovering and correcting unsafe conditions or unsafe work practices
  • Coordinates and helps communicate site Safety Committees
  • Assist and develop materials for EHS training and communications on subjects required by regulations such as HAZCOM, confined space, respiratory protection, compressed gasses, electrical safety, ergonomics, etc. to achieve and maintain that procedures are understood and applied
  • Maintain Joby Aviation’s SDS program ensuring compliance
  • Investigates safety (EHS) related events
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required

  • BS/BA degree preferred
  • Experience in EHS a plus
  • Strong experience in the R&D environment a plus
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screen required

Additional Information

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $71,900 - $108,700/yr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
