Overview

Joby Aviation is seeking a highly organized, passionate engineer to join our team and help support development of flight-critical components for our VTOL electric aircraft. The Joby Aviation team is made up of extremely talented, hardworking, proactive, and hands-on individuals, operating in a very fast-paced and rewarding environment. Responsibilities

  • Conceptual design through detail drafting of flight hardware for experimental aircraft
  • Coordination with design and stress engineers to identify risk areas in designs
  • Draft test plans, test procedures, instrumentation drawings, and test reports to document developmental test execution and ensure safe operation of test stands
  • Create developmental test setups including fixture design and build, test article instrumentation, and data acquisition/control
  • Execute developmental tests, analyze collected data and provide reports to design engineering teams as needed
  • Help to transition prototypes to formal testing
  • Create and implement tools to maximize testing productivity

Required

  • B.S. degree +4 yrs in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, material science or a relevant discipline
  • Experience in hardware testing
  • Ability to perform hands-on testing, including setting up and executing tests with test hardware and data acquisition
  • Experience with mechanical design and manufacturing drawing creation, Computer Aided Design (CAD)
  • 10% travel, domestic and international

Desired

  • Experience with High Voltage systems.
  • Experience with Dassault Systemes CAD Catia, specifically using Generative Shape Design, Part Design and Assembly Design.
  • Hands on machine shop skills using lathe, mill, welder, and other machine shop equipment.

Additional Information

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $113,900 - $187,400/yr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
