Imagine a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly carries you and your fellow passengers over the congested city streets below, enabling you to spend more time with the people and places that matter most. Since 2009, our team has worked steadily to make this dream a reality. We’ve designed and tested many generations of prototype aircraft capable of serving in a network of electric air taxis. We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onward toward certifying the Joby aircraft, scaling our manufacturing, and launching our initial commercial service.

Overview

Joby is seeking a talented Visual Designer to join our Brand, Marketing, and Communications team. As we prepare to bring our revolutionary electric air taxi service to market, we’re looking for a designer who’s excited to help shape the identity of a next-generation aviation company. This role is based in our San Carlos office, with an expectation of being onsite at least three days per week.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for developing high-quality visual assets and branded materials that support our marketing, communications, and business goals. You’ll collaborate across departments to create engaging content for both digital and print platforms, from presentations and social campaigns to environmental graphics and event branding.

 

The ideal candidate has a strong eye for design, is confident taking projects from concept to execution, communicates effectively, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design a wide range of visual assets including brand identities, marketing collateral, presentations, social media graphics, website elements, and environmental graphics.
  • Translate brand strategies into visually compelling concepts and ensure consistent application of brand guidelines across all touchpoints.
  • Collaborate closely with the marcomms team, product team, and other stakeholders to develop and refine creative solutions.
  • Present design concepts and clearly communicate ideas and rationale to team members and stakeholders.
  • Prepare final files for production across print and digital media.
  • Stay current with design trends, tools, and technologies to bring fresh ideas to the team.

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design
  • 5 years of experience in graphic design, branding, or visual communications.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing brand identity systems, print and digital design work.
  • Experience in visual, brand, and motion design
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects) and Figma.
  • Motion graphics skills
  • Solid understanding of typography, color theory, layout principles, and visual storytelling.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience working within brand guidelines and evolving brand systems.

Desired

  • An eye for product design
  • 3D design experience (Cinema 4D, Blender, etc.)
  • Illustration skills
  • Environmental and event design experience

Additional Information

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $97,500 - $130,000/year. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
