Joby Overview

Imagine a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly carries you and your fellow passengers over the congested city streets below, enabling you to spend more time with the people and places that matter most. Since 2009, our team has worked steadily to make this dream a reality. We’ve designed and tested many generations of prototype aircraft capable of serving in a network of electric air taxis. We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onward toward certifying the Joby aircraft, scaling our manufacturing, and launching our initial commercial service.

Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Principal, Corporate Development to join our growing team. In this role, you will lead strategic initiatives including M&A, partnerships, investments, and other high-impact growth opportunities. You will work directly with senior leadership to drive our long-term strategic roadmap, helping shape the future of mobility and aerospace innovation. Candidates with prior experience in investment banking, corporate development, private equity, venture capital, or management consulting are strongly preferred. This role is based in the United States with a location preference for the San Francisco Bay area. 

Responsibilities

  • Source, evaluate, and execute M&A, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships
  • Lead cross-functional due diligence and manage deal execution from start to finish
  • Develop and present strategic and financial analyses to executive leadership and the board
  • Identify industry trends, competitive threats, and whitespace opportunities
  • Build relationships across the aviation, aerospace, mobility, and tech ecosystems
  • Support corporate strategy initiatives and investor-related communications
  • Lead complex deal structuring, negotiations, and integration planning

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field
  • Min. 8 years of experience in Investment Banking, M&A, Corporate Development, or Strategy
  • Strong deal sheet with end-to-end transaction experience (buy-side or sell-side)
  • Deep understanding of valuation, financial modeling, and market analysis
  • Highly strategic thinker with strong business acumen and structured problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to influence at all levels
  • Self-starter who thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
  • Passion for market trends, innovation, and competitive dynamics

Desired

  • Experience in the Aviation, Aerospace, or Advanced Mobility industries
  • MBA

Additional Information

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $162,000 - $263,200 annually. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
