Overview

This on-site IT Network Infrastructure Administrator role provides support for network, server, storage, enterprise software, and maintaining access controls. Working with the IT Network and Infrastructure teams, this position acts as an on-site resource to troubleshoot and deploy necessary systems. While utilizing a service desk ticketing system, the role also involves long-term projects related to site development and end-user systems.

Responsibilities

Network Administration (70% Focus)

  • Prepare and configure network equipment such as switches, routers, and firewalls before deployment.
  • Ensure all equipment is tested and ready for installation.
  • Install and secure network equipment in racks within the IDF.
  • Connect and organize cables to maintain a neat and efficient layout.
  • Perform physical setup and installation of network hardware.
  • Install and terminate low-voltage/fiber cabling for data networks.
  • Ensure all cabling meets industry standards and best practices.
  • Test and certify network cables for proper performance.
  • Document all network configurations, changes, and updates.
  • Configure and manage network monitoring tools to ensure all equipment is properly monitored.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of network infrastructure.
  • Assist in troubleshooting network issues and providing support to end-users.
  • Work with senior network administrators to resolve complex network problems.
  • Ensure that all equipment and installations at remote locations meet company standards.

Infrastructure (30% Focus)

  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers and related software across various distributions (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS, Red Hat).
  • Ensure system security by implementing best practices and conducting regular security audits.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure efficient operation of servers.
  • Automate routine tasks and system deployments using scripting languages (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, Python) and automation tools (e.g., Ansible, SALT, Terraform).
  • Manage virtualization technologies and containerization (e.g., VMware, Docker, Kubernetes, LXC).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support infrastructure needs and address system-related issues.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for system architectures, configurations, procedures, and best practices.

Required

  • An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, and 3+ years of experience in IT, specifically in network administration or a related field, a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with network equipment such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Experience with low-voltage installation and termination of data networks
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
  • Proficiency in using network monitoring tools and software.
  • Experience with Active Directory, Entra, Windows servers, and Linux servers.
  • Relevant certifications, such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, or equivalent, are a plus
  • Proficient in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation and system administration tasks.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, ProxMox) and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with AWS, GCP, and Azure.
  • Solid understanding of network protocols, architecture, and security practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team with effective verbal and written communication skills. Should be able to adapt communication style to suit different audiences
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Willing to travel both domestically and internationally

Desired

  • Jira Service Desk, Salesforce, and/or Zendesk ticket systems.
  • Intune, JAMF, Mosyle, or any MDM platforms.
  • Juniper or Meraki routing and switching.
  • Okta, Entra, and SAML SSO implementations
  • Expected to cover EST business hours
Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $108,900- $172,000 per year salary. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
