Overview

As we scale toward high-volume production, the integrity of our data is just as critical as the integrity of our aircraft. We are looking for a Digital Manufacturing Systems Engineer to build the internal tooling that validates our manufacturing processes and safeguards our quality.

In this role, you will act as the architect of our digital factory, ensuring seamless integration between our Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) layers. You won't just manage data; you will build the custom software tools that validate engineering data against physical realities—ensuring that every composite ply, CNC path, and assembly torque is verified before it ever touches the aircraft. You will create a unified ecosystem where data is instantly accessible across Composite Fabrication, CNC, and Assembly, allowing for real-time quality control and rapid root-cause analysis.

Responsibilities

  • MES & ERP Integration: Architect and manage the bidirectional data flow between the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, ensuring production actuals (labor, materials, scrap) are accurately reflected in business planning tools.
  • Internal Tool Development: Design and code internal software tools (using Python/SQL) that automatically validate manufacturing processes against engineering specifications, preventing process deviations before they occur.
  • Unified Data Ecosystem: Create a connected data layer that links Composite, CNC, and Assembly systems, ensuring that critical engineering data is accessible and shared instantly across all manufacturing stages.
  • Quality Control Systems: Architect automated validation scripts that compare manufacturing data (e.g., autoclave cure logs, CMM reports) against engineering nominals to instantly flag non-conformances.
  • Traceability & Genealogy: Implement robust tracking systems that maintain 100% traceability of parts, ensuring that validated data travels with the part from raw material roll to final flight.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Design, Systems, and Quality teams to identify gaps in our data validation and scope out software requirements to close them.

Required

  • B.S. in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Software), Computer Science, Mathematics, or 6+ yrs of professional experience in a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering or software development, with a focus on process validation and data systems.
  • MES & ERP Expertise: Deep understanding of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, including how to architect data exchanges between them in a high-volume environment.
  • Tool Building: Demonstrated ability to build internal tools (using Python, SQL, or similar) that solve specific manufacturing or engineering problems.
  • Manufacturing Lifecycle: Strong understanding of the full manufacturing flow, from Composite Fabrication and CNC Machining to Final Assembly and Quality Assurance.
  • Data Integrity: Experience validating engineering data and implementing controls to ensure high-quality data input and output.

Desired

  • Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and developing software to automate quality checks.
  • Familiarity with Aerospace Quality Standards (AS9100) and certification requirements.
  • Proficiency in creating dashboards (Dash/Streamlit/React) to visualize validation results for engineering teams.
  • Experience with specific industry platforms (e.g., Ignition, Plex, SAP, Oracle, Teamcenter).
