Company Overview

Imagine a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly carries you and your fellow passengers over the congested city streets below, enabling you to spend more time with the people and places that matter most. At Joby, we've been working to make that dream a reality since 2009 and we're now in the final stages of certifying our aircraft with the FAA. With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service.

Overview

Joby is seeking an experienced aircraft maintenance professional to serve as the UAE Maintenance Manager and the nominated post holder for Joby’s Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO) under UAE GCAA CAR 145. Accountable to the Accountable Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all maintenance carried out on the Joby eVTOL aircraft in the UAE is performed to the standards required by CAR 145 and the approved Maintenance Organization Exposition (MOE), including the authority to certify release to service.

This is a leadership role centered on building and running the UAE maintenance organization. The post holder will own the MOE and its supporting procedures, establish and administer certifying staff authorizations, ensure the facility, tooling, stores, and maintenance data meet regulatory requirements, and lead the maintenance team delivering base and line maintenance in support of the flight program. The role works closely with the Continuing Airworthiness Management Organization (CAMO), the Quality/Compliance function, flight operations, and Joby’s engineering and maintenance teams in the United States.

The post holder is Joby’s primary maintenance interface with the GCAA and will represent the organization during initial approval, audits, surveillance activity, and scope extensions. The ideal candidate is passionate about establishing and executing the highest standards of aircraft airworthiness, with safety and regulatory compliance at the core, and is motivated by the challenge of standing up a maintenance organization for a new aircraft type.

Responsibilities

  •   Direct base and line maintenance activity, including maintenance planning, work package preparation, task allocation, defect rectification, shift handover and technical records.
  •   Lead and resource the UAE maintenance team, covering recruitment, development, rostering and the forecasting of manpower and licence coverage against the demands of the flight programme.
  •   Establish and administer the certifying and support staff authorisation system under CAR 66 and CAR 145, together with the initial, continuation and human factors training programmes and associated competence records.
  •   Ensure facilities, tooling, calibrated equipment, ground support equipment, stores and the traceability of aircraft parts meet CAR 145 requirements, and lead the build-out of the UAE MRO and line maintenance facility including capability development and spares provisioning.
  •   Ensure approved maintenance data — maintenance manuals, service bulletins, airworthiness directives and engineering orders — is current, controlled and available to personnel, and that embodiment is correctly planned and recorded.
  •   Interface with the CAMO on maintenance programme compliance, airworthiness reviews, deferred defects, MEL rectification intervals, reliability data and continuing airworthiness records
  • Coordinate maintenance processes and procedures with Joby as the OEM and with Joby’s FAA Part 145 repair station, aligning UAE practices, tooling and training with OEM standards while meeting CAR 145 requirements, and feeding UAE in-service findings back to the OEM.
  •   Support the compliance monitoring programme on audits, findings, root cause analysis and corrective action, and act as the primary maintenance point of contact for the GCAA during initial approval, surveillance, inspections and applications to extend the approval scope.
  •   Uphold occurrence reporting and mandatory occurrence report obligations, contribute to hazard identification and risk mitigation under the Safety Management System, and instil a strong culture of safety and regulatory compliance across all maintenance activity.
  •   Report maintenance performance, aircraft airworthiness status and resource risk to the Accountable Manager, escalating any issue affecting airworthiness without delay, and support other maintenance projects as assigned.
