Joby is looking for an electrical or software engineer with experience in electronics manufacturing and software development. Ideal candidates would contain both strong Python skills, electronics test equipment experience, and a firm understanding of the software/hardware interface.   Specifically, this role will develop software that enables the automation of electronics manufacturing tests in an aerospace production environment. The manufacturing test software includes a full stack that leverages containerized microservices that directly interact with test benches. This manufacturing test software is responsible for certifying line-replaceable-units (LRU), the heart and soul of Joby’s aircraft. This role develops back end software frameworks in Python that interact with test equipment (digital multimeters, power supplies, measurement devices, etc.) and communicates with a unit under test using networking protocols.

This individual will be responsible for supporting the design, build, test, and certification of flight critical electro-mechanical actuators. The primary focus of this position will be the support of design engineering. Drafting of technical drawings for complex machined components and assemblies will be required. The applicant should have strong drafting experience, including a solid understanding of GD&T and its application. This role will also require assisting design engineers in the management of actuator bill of materials and ordering proprietary and off the shelf parts for the prototype builds. Close interaction with and support of the testing, system safety and certification teams will be required.
