Joby Aviation is seeking a passionate and experienced aviation safety professional to join our global Operations team and local Dubai team in launching Joby’s first urban air mobility (UAM) air taxi service.  This service, launched in cooperation with Dubia’s Road and Transport Authority, will feature Joby’s all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft (eVTOL) and is expected to be amongst the first eVTOL UAM services in the world. You will report to Joby’s US Head of Safety and will work closely alongside Joby’s UAE General Manager and Operations. As the Dubai-based Senior Manager of Safety, you will be responsible for implementing the Joby Safety Management System (SMS) for all Dubai-based operations (air, maintenance, training). You will serve a critical role in ensuring operational safety and execution of Joby’s vision for UAM focusing specifically on all aspects of safety and regulatory compliance.  As this position is based in Dubai you will also be required to support the Safety of Joby’s international flight demonstrations across many other countries, deploying to support all aspects of Joby's safety. In support of the requirement that you spend time collaborating with our global operations and safety teams across many regions, this role requires significant travel. The role covers flight test safety during demo operations, Dubai site safety, occupational safety, emergency response, and strategic partnerships with local agencies. You must be creative and driven, strategic thinking, someone who can represent Joby’s vision while still being capable of driving tactical execution tasks on-site, and with US-based counterparts.  This full-time role is located in Dubai, UAE, and remote work will not be permitted. Over 50% of travel is expected, in support of various international demonstration opportunities and to the United States.

Joby is looking for an electrical or software engineer with experience in electronics manufacturing and software development. Ideal candidates would contain both strong Python skills, electronics test equipment experience, and a firm understanding of the software/hardware interface.   Specifically, this role will develop software that enables the automation of electronics manufacturing tests in an aerospace production environment. The manufacturing test software includes a full stack that leverages containerized microservices that directly interact with test benches. This manufacturing test software is responsible for certifying line-replaceable-units (LRU), the heart and soul of Joby’s aircraft. This role develops back end software frameworks in Python that interact with test equipment (digital multimeters, power supplies, measurement devices, etc.) and communicates with a unit under test using networking protocols.

As we are building and certifying an advanced composite airframe that also includes additively manufactured parts, this position is responsible for inspecting carbon composite, bonded structures, metallics and other advanced structures using ultrasonic, digital radiography, liquid penetrant or other state of art methods. This is an opportunity to participate in developing a complete system including influencing structural design, fabrication methods, and operational support of a new aircraft. Hands-on experience and a “get it done" attitude are very important for this position.
