Working as a Noise & Vibration Test Engineer, you will support Joby’s efforts to develop solutions for noise and vibration problems which arise throughout the development, certification, and commercial operation of the S4 aircraft. You will participate in cross-functional teams including Flight Controls, Powertrain, Flight Test, Airframe and more. Through the interaction with these teams, you will proactively seek out opportunities where noise or vibration testing is needed and then plan and execute the testing as required. The position is based at Joby’s headquarters in Santa Cruz, CA. Remote working is not available.

As a Modeling and Simulation engineer, you will play an integral role in supporting the Flight Physics modeling, analysis, and design efforts at Joby. Responsibilities include developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining models for use in analysis and pilot-in-the-loop simulation testing. You will develop and participate in data analysis and reduction of flight test or lab test data to support simulator validation efforts. You will work with stakeholders to improve internal documentation and produce validation documents.

Joby Aviation’s Flight Research team is looking for an experienced and driven control systems and simulation software engineer to contribute to the research and development of new aircraft configurations. We are a small, close-knit and agile team; the engineer will work closely with other software/controls engineers to develop simulation capabilities, controls algorithms ranging from stabilization to basic autonomy, and analyses/tests to leverage simulation software for aircraft design and rapid iteration. Joby Aviation is seeking a motivated individual to join our airframe and actuators team. This individual will be responsible for supporting the design, build, test, and certification of flight critical electro-mechanical actuators. The primary focus of this position will be the support of design engineering. Drafting of technical drawings for complex machined components and assemblies will be required. The applicant should have strong drafting experience, including a solid understanding of GD&T and its application. This role will also require assisting design engineers in the management of actuator bill of materials and ordering proprietary and off the shelf parts for the prototype builds. Close interaction with and support of the testing, system safety and certification teams will be required. Working as a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for developing strategic business plans for new international production operations, from concept to execution. The Radio Systems Technician will assist in the design, fabrication, assembly, test and documentation of radio systems used to support both remote and inhabited flight testing of our experimental eVTOL aircraft. This will involve electromechanical design, along with the fabrication and assembly of mechanical structures. This individual will also be tasked with RF testing of these radio and antenna components, especially when the top level assembly is being utilized to command, control and telemeter the experimental aircraft. The radio systems that control and telemeter our aircraft contain digital cameras, computer controllers and ethernet switches (making basic networking knowledge and experience highly desirable).

Working as a Test Engineer at Joby, you will support the Airframe & Actuator Testing Team as they test structural and mechanical hardware made by Joby. As part of this team, you will develop the data acquisition, controls and hardware/software interface tools needed to perform and automate structural, environmental, and functional tests of flight critical components and subsystems for VTOL electric aircraft. Working as a Structural Test Engineer, you will support the Testing Team. As part of this team you will perform structural testing of flight critical structures for VTOL electric aircraft. Working in our structural test lab facility, the structural test engineer will prepare test procedures, assemble test setups, execute tests and analyze and report test data.  The data collected during these tests will inform the company’s hardware design efforts and pave the way to safe, production-ready airframes.

The primary focus of this role will be to build up and maintain our code generation framework as well as our massive JSON database which contains the input to our code generators. As the Machine Shop Foreperson, this person will integrate within the Reactive Team Shops and work side by side with the Fabrication Shop and Waterjet Team. This role is responsible for assisting with scheduling, tracking, and planning for all machine shop jobs. They will also be responsible for equipment maintenance schedule and repair, as well as material and tool inventory, working under the direction of the Reactive Team Lead.

The team lead test engineer has responsibility for laboratory tests of flight critical servo actuation components and subsystems for electric VTOL aircraft. You will play an integral role in the development of Joby loads and aeroelasticity efforts.
