The role involves planning and execution of both development and certification flight testing. Flight test at Joby Aviation is very fast-paced, and we are looking for an individual who can take charge of a team, work with system designers to develop test procedures, and deal with frequently changing test scenarios.  Previous experience and/or training as a Flight Test Engineer is essential. We are seeking a motivated individual to join our Test and Integration team as a Test Technician. This role will be responsible for the assembly, operation, troubleshooting and decommissioning of test stands and test equipment. The test technician will be responsible for the installation of instrumentation and wiring on test stands, and operation of basic data acquisition equipment. The test technician will collect, store and report test data including digital data file handling and audio / video recordings documenting tests and test equipment. The test technician will have the primary responsibility to troubleshoot systems on the test stands and work with engineers to resolve issues with test and data acquisition equipment. The work is performed in a dynamic and rapidly evolving environment. The test technician works in the flight vehicle integration area and is often hands on with aerospace flight hardware; attention to detail and a focus on safety are required at all times. The test technician is responsible to ensure work areas are clean and safe, including following 5S best practices for test work areas, ensuring test equipment is maintained in good working order and tracked in inventory. The test technician supports development of company test best practices and continuous improvement measures for test processes and facilities. This role interacts with engineers and technicians from multiple cross functional teams. The successful individual will be able to communicate test status and test needs to leadership and internal customers, being the focal for the hands-on commissioning and operation of complex test stands.

Joby Aviation is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test to verify the software that runs on all of our aircraft sub-systems to provide services such as flight control, battery management, navigation system, etc.You should be able to work with software verification engineers to translate written test specifications into reliable automated tests that will be executed by continuous integration systems, to provide build quality data which may also be used for certification. In addition, you should feel comfortable formulating test strategies and test design methodology that you and other engineers can leverage to develop automated testing tools.  In the Joby software team, the activities of verifying the software and automating tests for that purpose, receive equal status to those that are developing the code itself.  Software testing will be taking center stage as we move towards certification. With Safety as our primary goal, this software must be tested to the highest possible standards.  The test framework needs to be just as solid, and well documented, as the certified code we will release for the vehicle.You'll quickly find yourself owning automation projects and contributing to many others, as part of a team of supportive and dedicated software development engineers.
