The Airworthiness Engineer will be a key position contributing to and ensuring success of certification projects within Joby. This position will own, support, and actively contribute to airworthiness aspects of current and future design certification and validation projects. This position requires a driven and professional individual that is focused on excellence in execution of airworthiness projects. As the Assistant Site Manager for Early Operations, you will be part of a small team working to
develop and mature initial operating capabilities for Joby’s S4 eVTOL aircraft. In this role, you will report to the location’s Site Manager and work cross functionally to ensure that Joby can support and sustain developmental flight test operations. You will schedule personnel and equipment movements, manage contracts, interface with customers, arrange high-visibility demonstrations, and drive logistics support for the program. Additionally, you will gather learnings from early operations and apply them to assist with Joby’s commercial success in other markets. This role has the potential to transition from site management to positions focused on operations, logistics, or program management. An ideal candidate should be a team player able to operate in a fast-paced, demanding, and rewarding environment. This role is in-person, based in the Lancaster, CA area.

We are seeking a motivated individual to join our Testing Team as a Test Technician. This role will be responsible for the assembly, operation, troubleshooting and decommissioning of test stands and test equipment. The Test Technician will be responsible for the mechanical/structural setup of test stands, the installation of instrumentation gauging and wiring on test stands, and operation of basic data acquisition equipment. The Test Technician will have the responsibility to work with engineers to resolve issues with test and data acquisition equipment.
The work is performed in a dynamic and rapidly evolving environment. The Test Technician works in the testing facility and is often hands on with aerospace flight hardware; attention to detail and a focus on safety are required at all times. The test technician is responsible to ensure work areas are clean and safe, including following 5S best practices for test work areas, ensuring test equipment is maintained in good working order and tracked in inventory. The test technician supports development of company best practices and continuous improvement measures for test processes and facilities.
This role interacts with engineers and technicians from multiple cross functional teams. The successful individual will be able to communicate test status and test needs to leadership and internal customers, being the focal for the hands-on commissioning and operation of complex test stands.

We are seeking an experienced engineer who is passionate about building something exciting and new and wants to help make quiet, emissions-free flight an everyday reality. As a backend developer you will work closely with product management, design, frontend/mobile, and other backend team members to realize a brand new suite of applications required to power this new era of aviation. The backend services you will be building power applications for all parts of the customer and operational experience from a customer booking a flight to the behind the scenes operations to serve that flight safely and efficiently. You will be working on a variety of domains including flight logistics, on demand marketplace dynamics, and physical resource management.
The Fire Protection and Life Safety Engineer position will be instrumental in guiding the company’s effort to shape undefined fire and safety policies that impact the infrastructure requirements and aircraft procedures designed around our aircraft. The role will also provide expertise knowledge to multiple teams throughout the company currently working on training requirements and community engagement.
The Electrical Engineer position will be instrumental to Joby’s Infrastructure Engineering Team as they design, build and electrify new skyports and existing heliports to operate and charge Joby’s pioneering electric Vertical Take-off and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The selected individual will be a key member of the Infrastructure Team developing first of its kind electrified vertical take-off and landing sites, contributing to the success of each project through technical due diligence site assessments, development of detailed electrical designs, and execution to energize each site for aircraft charging and terminal building customer processing operations. The role will work in close collaboration with Joby’s battery ground support equipment team developing the ultra-fast Global Electric Aviation Charging System (GEACS) to continually drive innovation towards optimized performance and best in class customer experience for each site. Integration of renewable energy sources, battery energy storage systems, and other novel electrical infrastructure technologies are encouraged to be evaluated using a first principles approach to challenge conventional standards and find the optimal solution for each site. The position will play an active role in electrical code development as it relates to site safety for novel DC charging equipment with integrated aircraft thermal management, innovative battery energy storage systems, and other electrical infrastructure to support a first in class aircraft charging system development and deployment.
The Supplier Industrialization Engineering team is responsible for critical component development and qualification activities at suppliers. The role involves communicating well with internal and external teams, traveling to suppliers in different regions, and on-the-spot critical decision-making. The goal: delivering on-time quantities of high-quality component parts into production processes to enable extremely rapid development cycles and product launches.
