Joby Aviation is seeking a motivated and organized Staff Design for Reliability (DfR) Engineer with first principles-based reliability analysis background to join our growing reliability team. The main responsibility of the DfR team, in support of certification, is to assess the reliability of airborne electronic and mechanical hardware that are critical to the flight of Joby S4 aircraft, and ensure the aircraft inherent reliability and safety is never compromised. Another responsibility is to ensure constant reliability growth, to support entry to service with Joby S4 aircraft.   The Staff DfR Engineer’s main responsibility would be two-fold. First, work with designers in procuring design information, performing failure rate and physics-of-failure (PoF) based simulations and providing design feedback to meet reliability goals. Second, use PoF analysis results and design accelerated stress tests, to evaluate product reliability. This role will be focused on airborne electronic hardware that are part of energy storage systems and high power distribution (includes modules, Battery Controls and distribution modules, Charge Port and Pump, HV interconnects etc.)

The Systems Engineer will coordinate between the various departments - EWIS Engineering, Airframe Engineering, Electrical Engineering, System Safety, Flight Test, Manufacturing, Operations - as necessary to ensure the technical success of wiring and electrical systems. Joby Aviation is seeking a passionate and driven Senior Flight Test Engineer to join our flight test team. This role requires a wide range of knowledge and skill that includes developing detailed flight test plans for experimental CTOL/VTOL fly-by-wire aircraft, executing testing as a crewmember, and test data analysis. The role involves planning and execution of both development and certification flight testing. Flight testing at Joby Aviation is very fast-paced, and we are looking for an individual who can work with system designers to develop test procedures, deal with frequently changing test scenarios, and lead/follow effectively. Previous experience and/or training as a Flight Test Engineer is required. Flight Analyst DER or ODA Unit Member is desired. While the flight test team is based in Marina, CA, opportunities exist for suitable candidates in both Marina and at Edwards AFB. Successful candidates relocating to the Marina area will initially be required to support regular short-duration deployments to Edwards AFB.
