Joby Aviation is looking for a passionate engineer that can join our growing team. This is a multidisciplinary position that provides the engineer a chance to interact with many of the key teams within the company. The Systems Engineers will own the architecture, integration, and life-cycle success of the aircraft systems under their responsibility, ranging from requirements management, development, certification, and entry into service.  Systems Engineers will coordinate between the various departments - Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software, Flight Test, Manufacturing, Operations - as necessary to ensure the technical success of their systems.  The Systems Engineers will work very closely with FAA Engineers and Joby DERs to ensure their responsible systems comply with all federal airworthiness regulations.     This position requires a solid understanding of aircraft systems, system development, and industry-specific certification processes.  Primary areas of responsibility will include aircraft engine design, performance, and certification. As the Site Lead for Early Operations, you will be part of a small team fielding Joby’s S4 eVTOL aircraft and maturing flight operations ahead of commercial launch. The site lead will coordinate Joby’s efforts to establish a flight base at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, and represent Joby in the greater Tampa area. Alongside forging strong DoD and local area relationships, the site lead will work closely with teams at Joby including flight test, commercial operations, training, maintenance, logistics, finance, and various engineering departments to deploy and sustain a multi-aircraft footprint at the base. This role represents a unique opportunity to shape an emerging industry’s partnership with federal customers and advance the adoption of eVTOL aircraft. The Radio Systems Technician will assist in the design, fabrication, assembly, test and documentation of radio systems used to support both remote and inhabited flight testing of our experimental eVTOL aircraft. This will involve electromechanical design, along with the fabrication and assembly of mechanical structures. This individual will also be tasked with RF testing of these radio and antenna components, especially when the top level assembly is being utilized to command, control and telemeter the experimental aircraft. The radio systems that control and telemeter our aircraft contain digital cameras, computer controllers and ethernet switches (making basic networking knowledge and experience highly desirable).
