Joby is seeking a People Team intern to assist with onboarding and new hire orientation onsite at our Santa Cruz location. In this role, you will work closely with Employee Relations team members to create an outstanding onboarding experience for every new employee.  

The Operations Manager will be responsible for much of the day to day communications and coordination between Joby and Avionyx as well as managing and coordinating contractual and certification-related information flow between Joby and designated Key Supplier Accounts. This position will report functionally to the Avionyx General Manager but is expected to have a dotted line relationship to the Joby Head of Software or their designee for the purposes of ensuring close coordination of software activities at Joby S4 suppliers inclusive of Avionyx. Joby is growing rapidly and we’re looking for an experienced, hands-on Senior People Systems Analyst to join our People team. You will work closely with various teams, including the People, Information Technology, Workforce Development, Legal, and Finance & Accounting teams, as the subject matter expert for our human resources information systems.  Your expertise will enable Joby to maintain a high level of data security and integrity, which is vital as we continue to grow our exceptional team. This position can be performed from our Santa Cruz, San Carlos, or Marina offices, with an expectation of 3 on-site days per week.    The Senior People Systems Analyst is here to help to advance our people technology while ensuring the accuracy and security of our team member's records. They will select and implement HR technology, oversee our data collection and storage practices, provide superuser support for our human resources systems, and conduct periodic audits to ensure secure and accurate people data. To be successful in this role, you should have experience with leading large projects involving several stakeholders, HRIS selection and implementation, data feeds and imports, integrations across multiple platforms, data audits, and exposure to core human resources software, such as payroll processing and applicant tracking systems. Ultimately, you will be responsible for the proper and effective operation of our HR systems.

Joby Aviation is looking for engineers experienced with civil aviation certification to join our growing team in the role of a Systems Engineer focused on Electrical Wiring Interconnection Systems (EWIS). The Systems Engineer will coordinate between the various departments - EWIS Engineering, Airframe Engineering, Electrical Engineering, System Safety, Flight Test, Manufacturing, Operations - as necessary to ensure the technical success of wiring and electrical systems. This role will serve as one of the internal Subject Matter Experts as well as a primary external point of contact with regulatory agencies and industry standards groups for aircraft, system, and equipment-level aspects of wiring and electrical systems. Working as a Noise & Vibration Test Engineer, you will support Joby’s efforts to develop solutions for noise and vibration problems which arise throughout the development, certification, and commercial operation of the S4 aircraft. You will participate in cross-functional teams including Flight Controls, Powertrain, Flight Test, Airframe and more. Through the interaction with these teams, you will proactively seek out opportunities where noise or vibration testing is needed and then plan and execute the testing as required. The position is based at Joby’s headquarters in Santa Cruz, CA. Remote working is not available.

As a Modeling and Simulation engineer, you will play an integral role in supporting the Flight Physics modeling, analysis, and design efforts at Joby. Responsibilities include developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining models for use in analysis and pilot-in-the-loop simulation testing. You will develop and participate in data analysis and reduction of flight test or lab test data to support simulator validation efforts. You will work with stakeholders to improve internal documentation and produce validation documents.

Joby Aviation’s Flight Research team is looking for an experienced and driven control systems and simulation software engineer to contribute to the research and development of new aircraft configurations. We are a small, close-knit and agile team; the engineer will work closely with other software/controls engineers to develop simulation capabilities, controls algorithms ranging from stabilization to basic autonomy, and analyses/tests to leverage simulation software for aircraft design and rapid iteration. The engineer will be expected to deliver high quality flight controls software, act with agency, and be capable of picking up a wide variety of tasks.

Working as a Test Engineer at Joby, you will support the Airframe & Actuator Testing Team as they test structural and mechanical hardware made by Joby. As part of this team, you will develop the data acquisition, controls and hardware/software interface tools needed to perform and automate structural, environmental, and functional tests of flight critical components and subsystems for VTOL electric aircraft. The data collected during these tests will inform the company’s hardware design efforts and pave the way to production ready hardware. 

Working as a Structural Test Engineer, you will support the Testing Team. As part of this team you will perform structural testing of flight critical structures for VTOL electric aircraft. Working in our structural test lab facility, the structural test engineer will prepare test procedures, assemble test setups, execute tests and analyze and report test data.  The data collected during these tests will inform the company’s hardware design efforts and pave the way to safe, production-ready airframes.

Joby is looking for an experienced Human Resources Program Manager to implement and manage critical HR projects and initiatives, working side by side with the Head of People and the People Leadership team . Resourceful, tech-savvy and fully comfortable in a fast-paced, ever-changing start-up environment, the HR Program Manager is a critical part of the overall People team as it supports Joby’s goal of launching air service in 2025. The primary focus of this role will be to build up and maintain our code generation framework as well as our massive JSON database which contains the input to our code generators. Joby relies heavily on code generation within our software department which works by parsing JSON and then running it though our code generation tool which consists of C++, Docker and CMake to generate C++, RST Documentation and other output.

Joby Aviation is seeking a highly organized, passionate individual to help manage a low volume, quick turn around job shop to focus and keep on track the machine shop team output, activities and personnel in support of the development, certification, and production of Joby’s eVTOL aircraft. As the Machine Shop Foreperson, this person will integrate within the Reactive Team Shops and work side by side with the Fabrication Shop and Waterjet Team. This role is responsible for assisting with scheduling, tracking, and planning for all machine shop jobs. They will also be responsible for equipment maintenance schedule and repair, as well as material and tool inventory, working under the direction of the Reactive Team Lead.
